How will you benefit me as my
doula? My role as a doula,
is steeped in the desire to give every client the best
opportunity at attaining the birth she (and her partner) desires
without an agenda through emotional/physical support, solid
education, and wise woman skills that go well beyond the birth
day.
How I help:
-
build confidence and trust in birth during
prenatals, phone and
email contact
-
discerning medical
information
-
myth
busting common occurrences and societal norms surrounding
birth
-
teach and model communication skills (to use with care
provider and staff)
-
explain
how to utilize your consumer
voice
-
clarify
what needs and desires to focus
on
-
work
through any barriers or fears (use of art, affirmations,
visualization, listening,
practice)
-
hone knowledge and education you have acquired very
specifically and fill in any
"blanks".
-
support
both you and your husband (or partner/friend/family in
labor) for the labor, delivery and immediate
postpartum.
I am
experienced with a variety clientele (single, partnered,
married, ages from teen-40's) and in many types of birth
scenarios (natural, water birth, medical induction, VBAC,
cesarean, IVF, medicated labors, precipitous labor, long labors) and
locations (home, birth center and hospital). References
available at your request.
What is your fee?:
A flat rate fee of $550 ($125 non-refundable deposit) for clients
having a hospital birth. A flat rate fee of $400 for
clients having a homebirth. If you are also interested in classes (6
week group session) and doula service combination, the fee is $625.
For private classes and doula service fees range from $500 (for
homebirth class plus doula) to $700 (complete private childbirth
class plus doula).
Why do you
charge a flat rate?: This means I will be with
you if you have either a fast labor or a 24 hour or more labor
with no additional fees expected. Also, I do not
want my clients worrying about the clock while in labor or
going over their budget with a stepped fee structure ( for
example: base of x amount for up to 5 hours of labor support then
$25 additional per hour with a cap of x
amount). I spend on average 12 hours with each client for
labor and delivery not including prenatal and postpartum
visits.
I have had a child(ren), is the fee the
same?: On an individual basis I
will consider charging a lesser fee depending on birth history
and needs. A repeat client generally would be charged the
fee from the first time we worked together.
What is included in your
services?: For complete overview, see my doula
agreement under the section. 2 prenatal visits, phone and email support, educational and local resources, on-call
24 hours a day from 38 weeks to
birth, will labor at your home prior to going to hospital or
midwife coming to attend you, continuous care during labor and delivery, immediate postpartum care, 1 postpartum visit, postpartum phone support, email support and
more.
